☆ Pink frilly cargo pants ☆

☆ Intro ☆
The pattern for this pants can be found here. I got this a while ago when it was still free, but I thik it is worth the price, especially if you take into account that there is a step-by-step video accompanying it on YouTube.
I already made one pair of those from a sacondhand bedsheet and I like them very much. I decided that I want to make another pair, but make it more cute. I let go of the side pockets and the flaps over rear pocets, since I was not using them anyway.
☆ Preparations ☆
I got the cotton for this project for a ridicousily low price online. After it arrived, I quickly realized why it was so chep - it was nearly see-through. I decided to use two layers for the leg pieces since I do not want my underwear poking through.
As mentioned before, I have already sewn from this pattern once, so I had it printed out and glued tohether. After spreading the fabric on the floor I was ironing it and cutting out pieces one by one. I managed to do it in one night, but my back hurt as hell afterwards.
I really wanted to incorporate this cute rose lace into this project. The shade of pink is a little bit different, but I think it still works.
☆ Sewing (finally) ☆
Unfortunately I did not take many pictures during the process. It was mostly mundane job tho. First, I needed to stitch the two layers of leg fabric together. Then I prepared they fly and stitched front part of right ale left legs together. Next I put together front and back pockets (with the addition of the lace).
I sewn all the pockets in palce and after that I was able to join fronts with the backs and do the inseam. At this point the garment finally took some shape and was close to beaing wearable, but in reality it was still a long way to go. First, I need to hise the raw edge at the top, so I prepared a strip of fabric reinforced with interfacing. I finished the edge with a cute ribbon-shaped seam, but you can not really see it at the first glance since the color of the thread is so similair to the colour of the fabric. Wasted effort, yay.
Here is how it looks after attaching the belt part - nearly finished up there. Only buttons are missing.
But there is still some work to do at the bottom!
For the finishing touch, I planned to add a small bow. I decided to use this ribbon that I (once again!) got from my lovely grandma. When I tried to melt the edges with lighter, it started to burn instead, so looks like it's cotton! First time seeing a cotton ribbon in my life.
In the meantime the buttons were attached aaaaaand here they are!
